Abstract
A leading voice in Contemporary Mexican and Hispanic-American Literature, Homero Aridjis wrote on several occasions on the emblematic figure of Christopher Columbus. Both in the play Cristóbal Colón desembarca en el otro mundo (1983), both in novels: 1492. Vida de Juan Cabezón de Castilla (1985) and Memorias del Nuevo Mundo (1988), the Genoese navigator represents a paradigmatic figure for the clash of cultures that occurs, at the same time, in Spain and America.
Voz sobresaliente de la literatura mexicana, e hispanoamericana, contemporánea, Homero Aridjis retoma la figura emblemática de Colón en diferentes ocasiones. Tanto en la obra teatral Cristóbal Colón desembarca en el otro mundo (1983), como en las novelas: 1492. Vida de Juan Cabezón de Castilla (1985) y Memorias del Nuevo Mundo (1988), el navegante genovés representa una figura paradigmática del choque de culturas que tiene lugar, contemporáneamente, en España y en América.
