The portacote. ergological and linguistic considerations
Abstract
This article is a linguistic analysis on the Portacote a device used by European farmers. Our research tries to reconstruct the linguistic and ergological events according to the lessons of Bartoli and Terracini, thanks to which it is possible to grasp the reactive action of the speakers (and, therefore, their identity) towards the cultural currents documented in linguistic atlases. The open linguistic reaction of some small towns towards the dominant features in the surrounding areas allows to link the atlases’ datum to the real identity vitality of the single communities.
Il portacote, umile oggetto della cultura materiale italiana ed europea, rivela un’imprevista fecondità geolinguistica. La nostra indagine cerca di ricostruirne le vicende linguistiche ed ergologiche secondo le lezioni di Bartoli e Terracini, grazie alle quali si può cogliere l’azione reattiva dei parlanti (e, quindi, la loro identità) nei confronti delle correnti culturali documentate negli atlanti linguistici. L’aperta reazione linguistica di alcuni piccoli centri verso i tratti dominanti nelle aree circostanti permette di riallacciare il dato atlantistico alla reale vitalità identitaria delle singole comunità.
