Life and collapse of Sardinian rural villages between the Giudicati States and the Kingdom of 'Sardinia and Corsica'
Abstract
The study of the medieval settlement and its development are linked to the increasing interest in research into the history of material culture. In this context are also included the research of Christiane Klapisch-Zuber and John Day on the Italian peninsula. These latter scholars are responsible for the resumption of interest in research into abandoned villages, also in Sardinia, a circumscribed historical-geographical area with particular historical-institutional characteristics that give the "phenomenon" of the abandonment of inhabited areas a peculiar and defined character. The subject had been the object of interest of scholars, already immediately after the most intense season of depopulation, with compilations and lists of abandoned villages.
